Southeastern Queens: Springfield Gardens

Springfield Gardens is a middle class African American community, with a growing West Indian presence in Southeastern Queens. The pride of Springfield Gardens is the Springfield Rifles youth football team. The Rifles are one of the top youth football programs in the area competing in the American Youth Football Inc, an NFL backed organization.

Pictured is the Montefiore Cemetery. Montefiore is a Jewish cemetery. Buried here are the infamous mobsters, the Amberg brothers, who were executed by Murder Inc in 1935.

Anthony Mason, Springfield Gardens native, and starting forward of the New York Knicks was 1 game of becoming an NBA champion in the 1993-’94 season.
