Southwestern Queens: South Richmond Hill

South Richmond Hill is a middle class commercial neighborhood. Atlantic Ave divides South Richmond Hill and Richmond Hill. Currently, South Richmond Hill is dominated by people of Indian, Bangladeshi and Caribbean descent. South Richmond Hill has the largest Sikh population in the entire city of New York. The Annual Sikh Day Parade runs the course of Liberty Ave in the heart of South Richmond Hill & and this year will mark it’s 26th edition.

Pictured is the popular Sybil’s Bakery located on Liberty Ave, at the beginning of what is known as Little Guyana.

The Villa Russo Catering Hall is one of South Richmond Hill’s oldest family owned businesses, initially opening up as a pizzeria in 1954.
