Rego Park is a middle class neighborhood with heavy Bukharan Jewish roots. Rego Park was named after the Real Good Construction company which developed the area in the 1920’s. Aside from the Rego Center Shopping Mall which opened in 2010, the main shopping district in Rego Park is located on 63rd Drive.
Pictured is the Crystal International Discount Foods store located on 63rd Drive. Crystal Foods sells imported goods from Russia and is very popular during Passover. The store’s sign is written in Russian Cyrillic.
Parts of the Oscar nominated movie “The Wolf of Wall Street” was filmed in Rego Park.
