Northwestern Queens: Little Colombia

Little Colombia is small enclave of Colombian owned businesses in Jackson Heights. Little Colombia is loosely bordered from 80th St to 84th St, running Roosevelt Ave to 37th Ave. Little Colombia is the heart of the Colombian community in Queens county, which has the most residents of Colombian background in the United States.

Pictured is Pollo a La Brasa Mario restaurant, located on Roosevelt Ave. Mario’s is a local Colombian restaurant chain in Queens. Two of the Mario’s restaurants are within Little Colombia. Mario’s specialty is a roasted rotisserie chicken served with aji sauce.

On May 8th 2008 councilman Hiram Monserrate renamed 82nd Street & 37th Ave, Calle Colombia.
