Southeastern Queens: Jamaica Hills

Jamaica Hills is a small mixed middle class sub neighborhood of Jamaica, Queens. In the 1800’s Jamaica Hills was considered an elite upperclass neighborhood. When the LIRR & subways expanded in the 1990’s in the area, it introduced more affordable housing and the area in turn became more mainstream.

Pictured is Captain Tilly Park located on Highland Ave. Captain Tilly Park features Goose Pond and a Spanish-American war memorial. Behind the park on a hill sits Jamaica High School, which recently earned landmark status.
