Southeastern Queens: Hollis Park Gardens

Hollis Park Gardens is a middle class sub neighborhood in the Hollis section of Queens. Bordered by Hillside Ave to the north, and the neighborhood known as Holliswood, and bordered on the south end by Jamaica Ave and the Woodhull Housing complex of Hollis.

Pictured is the entrance and sign located off Hillside Ave, designed in the Victorian mode on which the neighborhood was built.

Hollis Park Gardens most prominent residents may be Lester & Amelia Allen, civil rights leaders who regularly hosted Dr. Martin Luther King’s wife Coretta Scott King in the late 1970’s.
