Floral Park is a middle class neighborhood which shares a piece of both Nassau County, Long Island & Queens. The area was established by John Lewis Childs in 1874. Childs is responsible for creating America’s first seed catalog business. In an effort to promote his own business and local horticultural industry he named the area Floral Park. Floral Park has the distinction of being the safest neighborhood in New York.
Pictured is the Queens County Farm Museum. Located on Little Neck Parkway, this farm occupies New York City’s largest undisturbed active farmland. Free guided tours of the farmhouse are offered to the public on Saturdays & Sundays, year round.
On October 23, 2000, in arguably the greatest Monday Night Football game ever played, Floral Park native Vinny Testaverde scored 5 touchdowns in the 4th quarter against the Miami Dolphins to lead the NY Jets to a comeback victory.
